There are multiple ways to carry forward files using ProFile. First, however; make sure you have set your ProFile options before carrying forward.

If you have a ProFile Basic license you will need to carry forward your files using the File menu.

1. Select File > Carry forward to open the standard Windows dialog box.
2. Select the type of file you wish to carry forward in the File Type drop-down list. You can carry forward from certain competitors' software packages as well as from past year ProFile files.
3. Locate and the select the file you want to carry forward on your hard drive.
4. Click the [Carry forward] button (you can also double-click a file name).

You can also use the right-click carryforward to carry forward a single tax return:

1. Open a tax return prepared using ProFile last year.
2. Right-click on the file and select Carry forward from the context-sensitive menu.

Use drag and drop to carry forward a single tax return or to carry forward multiple returns:

1. In Windows^TM, locate a file that was prepared using software from certain competitors.
2. Drag and drop the file onto the ProFile application.
