- Accessing the ProFile TP1 module
I lived in Ontario as of December 31st, but owned a business in Quebec. How do I access the ProFile TP1 module without having to switch the province of residence to Quebec?
- On the Info worsheet, enter Ontario as the "Province of residence on 200X/12/31".
- Under "Province of self-employment", enter Québec.
- Using the form Explorer <F4>, open form T2203 (Multiple Jurisdictions) and allocate the business income to the Québec jurisdiction.
- After you have allocated the business income to the Québec jurisdiction, you will be able to access the TP1 module.
- Taxes payable in Québec will be calculated on form TP25.
Taxpayers who live outside Quebec, but who carry on a business with income attributable to an establishment located in Quebec must pay tax on revenue earned in Quebec. Calculate the amount of tax due using the form TP25. Amounts on this form flow from the federal form T2203. As you complete the TP25, ProFile automatically checks box 403 on the TP1 return and transfers the amount payable to line 419 of the TP1 general return. Taxpayers who do not reside in Quebec on the December 31st cannot use the simplified taxation system.
