Error C=224 occurs in a company file
The following message - Error: C=224 - occurs intermittently in QuickBooks 2012 & 2013 when opening a company file, running reports, backing up, verifying, or rebuilding a company file.
Intuit is aware of the issue and is working on a resolution. This is a non-fatal error that should allow you to use the data file normally without any problems.
Note: this workaround is for Preferences that are unique to each user as well as each company file. This error may continue to appear several times after clicking OK.
- Close QuickBooks (using the Task Manager if necessary).
- Press and hold down the CTRL key on your keyboard and double-click on the QuickBooks 2012 icon on your desktop. The No Company Open window appears.
- Press and hold down the ALT key on your keyboard, select the company file to open, and then release the ALT key.
- If prompted, enter the User ID and Password.
- Go to Edit > Preferences > General > My Preferences.
- Uncheck Beep when recording a transaction.
- In the Preferences window choose Desktop view.
- In My Preferences, uncheck Show Getting Started Window and change the Desktop option from Save when closing company to Don’t save the Desktop. These settings will also help your company file open faster.
- Click OK.
- Close and re-open QuickBooks.
