How do I move GST and provincial sales tax calculations to the bottom of my printed forms as I don't want sales tax printing out as a line item?

If sales tax is printing in the detail area of your forms, you can change it by turning on Sales Tax and Sales Tax Summary in the footer of your invoice template(s). This moves your sales tax information from the BODY of your invoice and places it at the BOTTOM of the invoice.

Customize your template to move the sales tax information to the bottom of your form:
  1. Go to the QuickBooks Lists menu and click Templates.

  2. Click on the sales form name you want to edit.

If the template isn't an Intuit standard template (meaning the word "Intuit" isn't in the the name), double-click it to open the Basic Customization window.

If the template is an Intuit standard template (meaning the word "Intuit" is in the name), follow the below steps to duplicate the template:

    1. Click the Templates button, and click Duplicate from the drop-down arrow.

    2. Select the Template Type and click the OK button. This creates a copy of the template that you can customize. The copy appears in the list with "Copy of:" in front of the name.

    3. Double-click the duplicated template to open the Basic Customization window.

    4. (optional) If you would like to rename the template, click the Manage Templates button and enter a new name in the Template Name field. Click the OK button.

  1. Click the Additional Customization button.

  2. Click the Footer tab, and check the Print column next to Sales Tax Total. This removes the sales tax from the body of the invoice and places a calculated sales tax total in a field at the bottom of the invoice. Use the Layout Designer if you would like to reposition this field.

  3. Check the Print column next to Sales Tax Summary. This creates a field at the bottom of the invoice that summarizes the total sales tax on the invoice.

  4. Click the OK button to close the Additional Customization window.

  5. Click the OK button again to close the Basic Customization window.

  6. Apply your customized template to all business forms, where you want the sales tax information to appear at the bottom of the form:

    1. Open your business form.

    2. From the Template drop-down list, select the Template you just created.

    3. Fill out the business form as you normally would.

    4. Click the Print button at the top of the window and select Preview.

    5. Click the Print button to print the form.
