EFile T4

To EFile year end T4 slips with the CRA, please follow the directions below.
Note: To EFile T4 slips, your Business Number must be entered in the Company Information.
EFile a T4 slip

E-Filing year-end T4 slips:

   1. In the Review T4 window, confirm that all employees whose slips you want to EFile are selected.
   2. Note: There is no limit to the number of T4’s that QuickBooks can EFILE. Click E-File T4s.
   3. Fill in the EFile window:
   4. Enter your Transmitter Number (also called a Magnetic Media number) in the Transmitter Number field.
   5. If your company is a sole proprietorship or partnership, enter your and your partner's Social Insurance Numbers in the SIN fields.
   6. Click Send.

QuickBooks compiles an .xml file containing your T4 data. This file has the name '_T4Slips.xml' and, by default, is stored in your QuickBooks directory until it is sent or you close QuickBooks, when it is deleted.

QuickBooks opens the CRA Web site for you. You will need to enter the path to the _T4Slips.xml file, your Business Number, and your Web Access Code.
