How long to update my tax codes for the new HST Changes?

If using QuickBooks 2010. We have created a new HST tool that was released in the R4 product update available April 29, 2010. This tool steps you through the changes you need to make to your file to prepare for the new HST changes. With this new tool, we've also added the Bulk Change feature to allow you to automatically update your items, customers & vendors, and accounts to use the new HST code.

It should take approximately 30 minutes to update your file using the HST Setup Tool.

If using QuickBooks 2009 or earlier. It will take you approximately 30 seconds to go into each individual item, vendor, customer and account record to update the default sales tax codes.  For example, if you have an average of 500 individual items that need updating, it will take you approximately 2 hours to complete the necessary changes for the new HST change.
