July 1, 2010 the new HST takes effect for Ontario and BC. Here are the other key dates for the roll out of this new HST.

| October 14, 2009 | Date of release of general transisional rules |
| October 15, 2009 | Date some non-consumers may have to start self-assessing the provincial part of the HST |
| November 18, 2009 | Date of release of transitional rule for housing in BC |
| May 1, 2020 | Date that HST would generally apply to amts that become due or are paid withou having become due for property and services supplied on or after July 1, 2010. |
| Julsy 1, 2010 | Date that HST would generally begin to apply |
| June 23, 2010 | Date final PST return should be remitted |
| November 1, 2010 | Date relevant to exchanges, returns and self-assessment |
