The Quicken uninstall process did not work correctly. How do I uninstall all the necessary files?
For some computers the uninstall process does not remove all the required files which causes problems when installing the latest Quicken product. To remove all the required files use the QuickClean utility below.
If you haven't done so already uninstall Quicken:
- From your Windows Start menu choose Settings then Control Panel.
- Select Add or Remove Programs.
- Select Quicken (if you have more than one version of Quicken installed, start with the most recent version) and click Change/Remove.
- Follow the onscreen instructions.
- Repeat these steps until all versions of Quicken have been uninstalled.
Once you have uninstalled Quicken, download the Quick Clean Utility below:

- Save this zipped file to any location on your computer. Note that location.
- You may receive a warning that some zip file may contain a virus. We do make sure that our files are virus free before posting them to the internet. To the question: “Would you like to open this file?” click the Ok button.
- In the next window, select to save your downloaded file. Save this zipped file to any location on your computer. Please take note of where that location is.
- Browse to the location where you saved this file and double click on the file QcleanCan2011.zip. In Windows XP if you have Windows zip folder opened
- In the left side click extract all files, this will start the Extraction Wizard
- Select the location where you want the wizard to place the folder QcleanCan. Remember where you are placing it.
- You'll be asked for a password; it is Intuit99
- In the next window leave the check mark in the box “Show extracted files” then click finish.
- In the new window, double click qcleanui.exe (extension may be hidden).In the top of the new window you have: Clean All, Choose a version to uninstall, Clean Installed
- Select Clean All and click the Clean button
- This will remove all traces of Quicken from your system.
- Close the windows and restart your computer.
- Re-install the version of Quicken that you want to use
- For your security we recommend that you delete the folder QcleanCan and the file QcleanCan2011.zip.
- Do not forget to empty your recycling bin to completely delete the folder and file mentioned earlier.
