Claim Tuition Transferred from a child or spouse

Amount transferred from a child
  1. Click the Take Me To icon found near the top right of the screen.
  2. In the Search field, type in Children (dependant claims):
  3. Click the line for Children (dependant claims). This will open the page titled Claims for Dependants. Click YES on this screen to proceed to the Dependants Credits Page.
  4. Click Enter Dependant Credits beside the name of the child/dependant that you wish to claim a dependant credit for.
  5. On the Claim Dependant Credits for (Child/Dependant name) page, check the onscreen box for Transfer my child's tuition and education amounts. Click Continue when you have finished your selections.
  6. On the Transfer my child's tuition and education amounts page, Enter the amounts the student designated to transfer to you on their tax return, T2202 or T2202A form, as well as which parent should claim the amount (if applicable).
  7. Click Continue when you are finished.
Amount transferred from a spouse

If you are preparing a coupled return with your spouse or common-law partner, leftover tuition is transferred automatically. If you are preparing separate returns, follow the steps below.

  1. To find this form, use Form Lookup and enter the keyword S2.
  2. TurboTax transfers the result of Schedule 2 to line 326 of your T1 General.

If your spouse or common-law partner has provincial amounts to transfer, repeat the steps above and complete your provincial Schedule 2.
