1. Go to http://turbotax.intuit.ca/tax-software/personal-products/online-compare.jsp.
2. Choose a TurboTax product, then click the appropriate Try it free button.
3. On the Start Your Tax return screen you can:
   
   
   • Click Yes, I have used TurboTax before. Enter your user ID and password and then open an existing return for this year or last year.
     Click the Transfer Data button to transfer last year's information into this year's return. (If you have difficulty doing this see How do I transfer (carry forward) previous tax information?).
      
   • Click No, I am a new user. You will need to set up your user account first. This ensures any data you enter is saved, in case you choose to come back later. This process takes only a few minutes, and is free of charge. Remember, you only pay for your TurboTax Online return when you are ready to file.

It’s important that you choose a username and password that you will remember.

 

1. In the next few screens, enter your personal information, including name, address, birth date, social insurance number (SIN), marital status, and dependants’ information (if you have children).
2. Fill in the fields based on your tax situation.
3. Review your tax saving opportunities and warnings. If there are opportunities listed here that you want to investigate further, click Explore.
4. Continue until you arrive to the Get Organized - Review screen. To enter more information click No, take me back to enter more. If you are ready to begin your review click Yes, start review.
5. Enter the required fields. When you arrive at the Tax-Saving Opportunities screen, click the Explore button beside any opportunity that appears. Doing so could save you money. When you are finished, click Done with Tax-Saving Opportunities.
   
   Be sure to also explore any Smart Tips, Warnings, or Errors that appear.
   

You can leave your return at any time and return later. As long as you have created an account, each time you click Continue in the interview, or when you log out, your return is automatically saved. To come back later, just log in again with your username and password. The interview resumes on the page where you last entered information.

 

For security reasons, if your computer is idle for more than fifteen minutes, TurboTax Online automatically logs you out. Log in again to resume the interview.

You have the option to either print and file a paper return or to file your return electronically with NETFILE.

To print your return do the following:

1. Click the Print and File tab at the top of the page.
2. If you have not already paid for TurboTax a screen will appear prompting you to pay. Follow the instructions then click Continue until you get your Order Receipt.
3. Click on the Print button at the bottom of the page.
