- I am being asked to pay for my return again
I am being asked to pay for my return again, or I have made a double payment.
There are a few reasons why you may encounter the payment process twice for the same return.
- If you paid for your return, and then upgraded your flavor of TurboTax (for example upgraded from TurboTax Standard to TurboTax Premier), you will be prompted to pay for the difference for the upgrade. Please note that once you select to upgrade, you cannot downgrade your flavor of TurboTax.
- If you paid for your return and then choose to purchase Audit Defence, you will be prompted to pay for the Audit Defence service.
- If you went through the payment process and qualified for a free return, and then enter additional income that takes you over the income limit of a free return (an income over $20K), you will then no longer qualify for a Freedom return and will be prompted for payment of the return.
- If you complete a return, including paying for it, and then go to the return manager and start a return over again, even if the return is for the same person, you will be prompted for payment again. The program will not transfer payment from one return to another, even if the return is for the same person.
