How do I update my TurboTax product?

Occasionally, CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) may change a tax form or calculation after the release of our final version TurboTax products. To be sure you have the most current information within TurboTax, please look here for any product updates before you file your return, or use TurboTax Update.

Update TurboTax

To ensure that you have the latest tax form changes and product updates:

  • Start TurboTax.
  • From the Help menu, select Check for Updates
  • Follow the steps to update your TurboTax product.

If TurboTax does not start, or you experience problems running the TurboTax Update, please click a link from the section below that matches the software year you are updating.

  1. Select the desired update.
  2. Follow the instructions on the update page. Once completed, TurboTax will be updated with the latest version.

Note: You cannot update last year's tax software to this year's forms. The updates only apply for the current tax year and cannot be used to upgrade a prior year's version to a later year.
